What is Clean Fragrance?

These past 10 years, the perfume industry has exploded with designer brands that are creating their own fragrance. The problem with these fragrances is that they rely on synthetic ingredients and many “trade-secret” recipes that contain pure toxins the body.

Not only are these synthetic materials cheap (with a high markup on price), but they are toxic to the body in shocking ways. Some of these ingredients in the bottle are:

The Parfum is only a small part of the fragrances you buy in store. While many fragrance materials are proven to be toxic to our body, some of the most alarming ingredients in these “designer” perfumes are the liquid medium that suspends the fragrance.

Now let’s talk about the perfume.

What we smell as a rose fragrance is actually over 100 fragrance molecules, that of course are naturally existing. Perfumer's attempt to create various different “rose smells” that can contain many molecules, or they may use 3-5 to create a “recognizable” rose smell. The point is, it’s very hard to mimic a real full rose smell with synthetics. This is the case for many fragrances.

Now, we have access to so many different materials, which to a perfumer who wants a big palette, is fun. We now get to play with single molecules rather than a complex makeup of molecules.

The problem, is that not all of these synthetics are good for the body. In fact, some of them are harmful. Are some naturals harmful to the body, also? Absolutely.

Perfume has evolved drastically in the past 10 years. The ancient use of incense roots back to ___ B.C. Incense and Myrrh were among the first. They believed that fragrance got them closer to God.
